In filming for the upcoming film, "Mission: Impossible - Fallout," Tom Cruise took his daring stunts to a new level-25,000 feet above the earth. Cruise, performing for the latest installment in the secret government agent series, completed the HALO (high altitude, low-open) jump for a scene in the film. These jumps are used by the military and required significant training on the part of Cruise. To practice the jump, a wind machine was built to allow for rehearsals. When the time came to film, Cruise was required to breathe pure oxygen 20 minutes before the jumps to prevent decompression sickness. Jumping out of a plane traveling at 165 miles per hour, Cruise was then filmed as he plummeted downward at 200 miles per hour. Multiple jumps, timed at sunset for the night scene, were required to get the right shot."Mission: Impossible - Fallout" is the sixth film in the installment starring Cruise and hits U.S. theaters July 27.
